Exploring Real-Time RF Signal Monitoring with USRP-2901 using FieldFox N9913B
In a recent field experiment, I configured a USRP 2901 software-defined radio to transmit RF signals within the [insert frequency band, e.g., 2 GHz] and paired it with the Keysight FieldFox N9913B handheld analyzer to observe signal behavior in real-time.
Configuration Highlights:
• USRP 2901 was set up using LabVIEW to generate modulated waveforms (e.g.,
QPSK, BPSK) tailored for low-power signal transmission.
• The FieldFox N9913B operated in spectrum analyzer mode, capturing frequency
response, power levels, and modulation characteristics with precision.
• The system was tuned to assess signal clarity, interference patterns, and
spectrum efficiency across varying transmission distances.
Objective:
To demonstrate how portable SDR technology can seamlessly integrate with
multi-instrument RF tools for practical diagnostics, signal verification, and
performance analysis directly in real-world settings.
The captured data and visual results confirmed consistent signal transmission
and strong analyzer responsiveness, highlighting the synergy between modular RF
systems and field-grade instruments.
The results showed promising synergy between SDR flexibility and FieldFox's
robust analysis capabilities, ideal for dynamic RF environments and rapid
deployment needs.
